Richard Arnold Nilsen

Richard Arnold Nilsen, 67, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Delnor Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born April 13, 1955 in Chicago, the son of Arnold and Laila (Stromdahl) Nilsen. He married Norma Saldana on October 28, 1985, in Chicago.

Rich was a man of nature and lover of all animals. He lived to make people laugh. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor. He would do anything and everything for anyone he could and was always generous with his time and resources. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. Rich was a devoted and loyal person, especially to his family. He was the constant in all of their lives. Rich showed great courage and strength during his two year battle with cancer, fighting until the very end.

Rich is survived by his wife, Norma; children Jonathan Nilsen, Ricky (Tracy Stanley) Nilsen, Rachel Nilsen, Joshua (Samantha) Nilsen, and Chaos “Bubba” Nilsen; grandchildren, Diesel, Winni, Daisy, Freya, and Hailey; siblings, Jan Nilsen, Alice (Joe Garza) Nilsen, Arnie Nilsen, Linda Nilsen, Laura (Barney) Teegan, Larry Nilsen, Paul (Diane) Nilsen, and Valerie (Jay) Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Laila Nilsen.

Visitation will be from 3-9 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Village Bible Church, 209 N. Nokomis St. in Shabbona.

Funeral service will take place at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Village Bible Church with Pastor Jeremy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL with military rites by the United State Marine Corps.
