Roger E. Moorehead of Paw Paw, IL died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center with his wife Dorothy and son Kevin at his side.
Roger was born at home in Paw Paw, Illinois on October 3, 1927 to Irwin and Gertrude Moorehead. He attended Paw Paw Public Schools and Northern Illinois University. He was an Army veteran, a school teacher and coach in Compton, IL, a mechanical engineer for General Electric for over 30 years in DeKalb, IL, Holland, MI and Fort Wayne, IN, a Boy Scout leader, EMT and volunteer fireman, a board member of Paw Paw Public Library and Paw Paw United Methodist Church, and a member of the American Legion. Roger was a carpenter, plumber, and electrician providing a beautiful home for his family. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; and a humble, admirable man.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; son Kevin of San Francisco, CA; daughter Becky (Dick) Provi of Loves Park, IL; son Dan of Compton, IL; son Doug (April) of Rochelle, IL; brother Jim (Marnie) Moorehead of Rochelle, IL; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-children, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons Michael and David; his parents; sister Maxine Prentice and brother Richard.
Visitation will be at Paw Paw United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 29th from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be at Paw Paw United Methodist Church on Monday, January 30, at 11 a.m., with burial immediately following at Wyoming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for an educational scholarship fund to be established in Roger’s memory.

I’m so sorry that I an just now reading about his death! Roger was a great, great man, involved in so many young lives! My memories are from Boy Scouts, and his involvement in the towns direction, church, down to filling his vehicles at dad’s station. Whatever the day was like he always was a breath if fresh air when ever I talked with him! RIP Roger, whomever you met, you made their day happier!
It was an honor to care for Roger. In the short time that I knew him and your family, I could see the great love that he had for each of you. Your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
