Eloise Tarr, 90, of Paw Paw, passed away at her home Saturday, March 19, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 3, 1925 in Adams Twp., IL, the daughter of Wade and Daisy (Baird) Holliday. She was united in marriage to Roger Tarr on March 10, 1946 in Earlville, IL. Roger preceded Eloise in death on January 27, 2010.
Eloise loved country living, being a farmer’s wife, walks in the woods, wandering through cemeteries, winters in Phoenix, and her beloved Chicago Cubs. But, nothing took higher precedence than her family. She will be greatly missed by friends and family but all who knew and loved her are glad she is free from her body that held her captive for too long. The Cubs have gained another angel in the outfield.
Eloise is survived by her children, Sandra K. Tarr of Phoenix, AZ, Michael “Mick” R. Tarr of Rochelle, Anthony “Tony” L. Tarr of Ottawa, Eric C. Tarr of Paw Paw, and Tina M. (Dan) Litteral of Phoenix, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister, Dorothy May Boltz of Janesville, WI; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Holliday. She also leaves behind, Pete, her beloved Shih-Tzu, who was such a comfort to her after Roger died.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eloise is preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Holliday, Corrine Holliday Weber, Wade “Sonny” Holliday, James Holliday, William Holliday, and Robert Holliday.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg St. in Paw Paw. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw.
It is nice to read the tributes here, and to remember Aunt Eloise. I remember Aunt Eloise as another of my faithful aunts, committed to her family and a presence at all those family events. We pray for comfort and joy at this time and in this Easter season for family and others touched by her, having faith in the promises of Jesus Christ our Lord.
We have a lemon tree in our yard. Each time I see the branches filled with fruit I think of your Mom and her absolutely amazing lick-the-plate lemon meringue pies! My thoughts and prayers our with you all.
I have many fond memories of Aunt Eloise. Our families would get together nearly every holiday while I was growing up. She and Uncle Roger came to Florida to comfort my parents when Barbara died. She was again here to celebrate my Mom’s 90th birthday and was one of the last people my Mom spoke with before her death back in 2013. She was a wonderful believer and I look forward to seeing her again when Jesus Christ comes back and we’re all gathered together again. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. May you bask in the warm memories that you all made together with her.
Eloise will be missed by many, she was an incredible mother, a strong Christian and a great examlple to me, I am so glad I got to know her and have her in my life. I pray God surronds you all with his love and comfort at his time.
