David Gene Lampson, 78, of Mendota, formerly of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born July 2, 1943 in Aurora, the son of Wayne and Audrey (Treest) Lampson. He married Charlotte Jones on June 24, 1967, in Paw Paw.
Dave was born and raised on the west side of Aurora until the age of 18. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. Dave started his working career as a journeyman carpenter out of Aurora Local 916. He later ran his own general contracting business, C&D Enterprises, out of Paw Paw for 10 years. He built three houses and did many general contracting jobs. He enjoyed woodworking and constructed many things for his wife through the years. He and Charlotte loved to travel. Dave was a quiet man with a love for God and family. He had several medical challenges through the years. He continued to be a strong man despite those battles, except for this last hurdle. He couldn’t quite jump over it and his body was tired of fighting. Most of all, Dave was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Mendota; two sons, Mike (Angie) Lampson of Paw Paw and Chad (Kelly) Lampson of Mendota; five grandchildren, Aleigha (Travis Bialas) Lampson, Katelynn Lampson, Michael Lampson, Jessica (Jeromy) Turner, and Jacob (Linda) Estes; four great-grandchildren, Aubree and Norahlee Bialas and Evelynn and Reageyn Turner; five siblings, Penny Johnson of Elburn, Sue Milton of Louisiana, Richard (Melanie) Lampson of Ottawa, Dennis (Donna) Lampson of Paw Paw, and Kevin (Angie) Lampson of Paw Paw; and numerous niece and nephews.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Lampson; mother, Audrey Bennett; infant daughter, Julie Kay Lampson; and brothers Tommy Bennett, James Lampson, Larry Lampson, and Steve Lampson.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw with Pastor Ken Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Military honors will follow the funeral services at the church. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dave’s memory may be directed to Unity Hospice of Rochelle
So sorry for your loss, Dave will be missed by many and live on in many hearts, prayers of comfort and strength for all.
