Dennis W. Day, age 70, passed away on July 4, 2019, at his home in Paw Paw, IL. Dennis was born January 2, 1949 in Dyess, Arkansas, to J. W. And Anne Angeli Day. At age 1, he moved with his family to Aurora, IL. Dennis graduated from East Aurora High School. He was in the Army during the Vietnam war.

Dennis married Linda Marie Marks on July 24, 1971. They lived in Aurora, IL, until January, 2007, when they moved to Paw Paw. Dennis worked on the assembly line, paint line, and other positions for Caterpillar, retiring in 2001. From 2004 to 2008 he worked repairing and operating heavy equipment in Djibouti in eastern Africa. He enjoyed the time he spent in Africa.

Dennis was mechanically inclined. He enjoyed restoring and repairing old cars. If he had questions, he looked the information up on the internet. Dennis was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.

Dennis was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw, serving as an Elder on the Session. He helped look after the church building, making needed repairs to it and to the manse.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; 3 children: John of Downs, IL, Dennis Jr. (Krystal) of S. Elgin, IL, and Angela (fiance Andrew Kurk) of Davis Junction, IL; 6 grandchildren, Brittany Moore, Adonis, Julian and Mackenzie Benedict, Ireland Day and Matthew Day; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (Shelly) Day of Texas; 1 sister, Shirley (Ronnie) Edleman of Oquawka, IL, several nephews and nieces and many friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin boys, Matthew and Michael; 1 brother, Butch; and an uncle, Robert. He will be missed by all who knew him.
