Donald L. Grooms passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at his home in Cleveland, Minnesota. Don was born October 20, 1963 in Mendota, Illinois.
Don was a machinist by trade for some 37 years and was presently employed as Tool Room Manager at Le Sueur Incorporated in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Don was a fun, lovable father, grandfather (PaPa) and husband. He was always quick to forgive and received with open arms. Don and his children enjoyed every practical joke they could play on each other. He was a humorous man and passed that laughter on to his children.
He was kind and loving and filled his children with encouragement to live life with no regrets, to laugh and love all the time. By his example, he showed his kids how to pay it forward. He would freely help anyone in need. Don always put his wife and children before himself. His wife was his best friend and soulmate. He did not go a day without telling his wife and children how much he loved them. Don had an affect on every person he came across. He was a giving, selfless person with smiles and laughter and a positive attitude. He could make friends anywhere he went and if you were his friend, you were truly blessed.
Don was saved and God was first in his life. He was always a good son, always there to help his parents. He looked up to and loved his brother Raymond. Don will truly be missed and this world was a better place because of him.
Don is survived by his wife, Jody Lynn (Cannon) Grooms of Cleveland, MN; children, Brandy (Joshua) Ness of Paw Paw, Brittney (Kody) Reynolds of Caledonia, MI, Matthew Grooms of Cleveland, MN, Jonathan Grooms of Cleveland, MN, Lindsey Grooms of Cleveland, MN, and Dana (Sean) Parks of Reno, NV; one brother, Raymond (Feenie) Grooms of Santa Barbara, CA; and eight grandchildren.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Mary K. (Sila) Grooms and Orville Grooms, Jr. and one brother, Orville Lavern Grooms.
A celebration of life will take place at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church, 398 Chicago, Road in Paw Paw with Pastor Todd Nielson officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Please visit www.TormanFuneralHome.com to sign the online guest book.
So sorry for his families loss. I went to school with Donald in Leland years ago.
I’ve known Donny since I was 16. We have a daughter, (Dana Parks) together. Sadly they didn’t get to spend the time together that both would have greatly benefited from, but she has her memories. Not only that, she has Don’s amazing wit, sense of humor and contagious laughter. Many times over the years I had to do a double take when something funny caught her just right and she’d burst into laughter. I often told her great stories about her father and his strong work ethic. I recently learned he was saved and as a Christian as well I was thrilled to know that he found the rich love and mercy of God. My condolences go out to his brother Ray, his other children and to his wife Jody, whom I know he loved very very much. May God give you strength, peace and comfort at this time and always. ✝️
Our staff here at West Michigan Tool & Die have worked with Donny since he was at Impact in Sandwich, IL. Don was simply a pleasure to know. I last saw him in Leseuer for lunch about a month ago and we picked up where we had left off. I too am a better person for having known him. He will truly be missed.
My prayers are with you and your family, Jody…hugs too…
Thinking of you Jody . Hugs & love
