Freda Mae Turner, 94, of Paw Paw, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Prairie Crossing Nursing and Rehab in Shabbona. She was born April 30, 1927, in Mount Vernon, AR, the daughter of Ferman and Ida (Rose) Frye. She married George Turner on May 10, 1947 in Piggott, AR.
Freda had the best sense of humor with a quick wit. She was always fun to be around and was generally considered by all who knew her to be a good person. She loved to bake. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who would do anything for her family. Her children were a central part of her life and that love and devotion grew as her family grew.
Freda is survived by two daughters, Kathy Larkins of Ringwood, IL and Judy (Creighton) Barker of Paw Paw; five grandchildren, Daniel Taylor of Ringwood, IL, Amy Alexander, Joshua (Carrie) Ickes of Paw Paw, Rebekah (Mark) Kennay of Paw Paw, and Erin (Tim) Brower of Paw Paw; and nine great-grandchildren, Max Alexander, Ian Alexander, Olivia Alexander, Dawson Brooks, Addison Brooks, Lilliane Brower, Caitlyn Brower, Raegan Ickes, and Richard Taylor-Terry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George; a brother Floyd Frye; sisters, Nettie VanNada, Helen Roderick, and June Hall; and a great-grandchild, Everett Brower.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Torman Funeral Home in Paw Paw with Pastor Duane Boehm officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw.
