James Robert Eich, better known as Brownie, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota. He was born August 4, 1955, in Mendota, IL, the son of Robert and Darlene (Molinare) Eich. He married Janet Seng on June 19, 1982 in Mendota, IL.
Jim graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1974. Jim farmed in the Paw Paw and Shabbona area for over forty years. He helped numerous farmers throughout the years, most recently working as a grain supervisor for Mullins Grain in Shabbona. He was a member of the Paw Paw Fire Department, where he served as an EMT. Jim enjoyed fishing, bowling, visiting casinos, and playing euchre. Jim loved participating in and attending tractors pulls and was a member of the NTPA. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who would do anything he could for anybody who needed help.
Jim is survived by his son, Jacob (Jacqui) Eich of Paw Paw; grandson, Dominic Eich; six siblings, Marilyn Eich of Elkhart, IN, Patricia McKay of York, PA, Shirley (Rodger) Coble of Matthews, NC, Peggy Sonneson of Green Bay, WI, John (Jerrie) Eich of New Tazewell, TN, and Tom (Candy) Eich of Paris, TX; a foreign exchange son, Fred (Tracey) Umlauf of Herndon, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Jann Eich; his parents, Robert and Darlene Eich; and siblings, David Eich, Sharon Whatley, and Robert Eich Jr.
Cremation care has been provided by Torman Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 398 Church Road, in Compton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Interment will follow in Wisner Cemetery in Mendota.
