Joe R. Jones, 80, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke, IL. He was born on October 22, 1933 in Shabbona, the son of the late Clyde and Beatrice Jones.

He graduated Paw Paw High School in 1951, joined the Marine Corps, and was stationed in Japan. He married Carmen Johnson in 1956. Joe worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring on March 1, 1990. He was active in the Paw Paw community where he belonged to the United Methodist Church, was a Boy Scout leader, and held positions on the city council. Joe was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Illinois Fighting Illini basketball.

Joe is survived by his 3 sons, Brian (Sandra) Jones of Eureka, IL, Steve (Ruth) Jones of Sycamore, IL, and Mike (Laura) Jones of Lahaina, HI. He is also survived by his brother, Bill and Ila Jones, of Amboy IL, his sister, Dorothy Moorehead of Rockford, IL, Everett Jones of Harrisburg, PA, and a sister, Sue and Roger Baker of Ely, MN. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Beatrice of Paw Paw, IL, his brother Paul Jones of Sycamore, IL, and his grandson Zachary Jones of Sycamore, IL.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, December 14, in Paw Paw, IL, at the United Methodist Church with funeral services immediately following. Interment will follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made, in his name, to your local veterans organization.
