Josephine L. Ruppert, 98, of Mendota, passed away April 10, 2012 at the Mendota Lutheran Home. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 10, 1913, the daughter of Louis and Marie (Gilson) Kuhnke. She was united in marriage to William J. Ruppert on April 28, 1935 in Chicago, IL.

When she was about five years old, the family moved to north central Wisconsin, finally settling on a small farm near Waupaca. The family pitched in to help on the farm while her father made wire kitchen baskets and sold them door to door. He often took Josephine and her sister, Mildred, along on his sales trips to other states to watch the camp. Her last years were spent at the Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota.

She is survived by three sons, William (Pat) Ruppert of Paw Paw, IL, Lawrence (Barbara) Ruppert of McDonough, GA, and Raymond F. (Barbara) Ruppert of Warrenville, IL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William; two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg Street, in Paw Paw. Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating. Interment to follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw.
