Laurine M. Cook, 90, of Lee, formerly of Glen Ellyn, passed away November 7, 2011. She was born August 17, 1921, the daughter of George and Mary (Cleary) Polecastro.
She worked as a school secretary at St. Petronille in Glen Ellyn. She was a member of the DuPage County Home Extension, 4-H, and a Cub Scout Den Mother in Glen Ellyn as well. She was a lifelong Cub fan. She provided years of dedicated service to the Midwest K-9 Emergency Response Team. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.
She is survived by her children, Brian (Laura) Cook Sr. of Naperville, Ellen (Bill) Ponall, of Lee, and Gregory (Diane) Cook of Naperville; grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian (Lisa) Cook, Stacy (Chris) McCleave, Natalie (Robert) Egan, Christian Ponall, and Rebecca and Garrett Cook; great-grandchildren Ava, Emily, Sophie Rose, Kaleb, and Mia Dannie; and nieces, Laura (Scott) Polecastro-Henderson, Rachel Polecastro, and Julia Ion.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William O. Cook; a son, Gary William Cook; a grandson, Daniel James Cook; a sister, Helyn Anderson and a brother, George Polecastro; and sister-in-law Arlene Polecastro.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 P.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Torman Funeral Home, 510 N. Flagg Street, in Paw Paw, IL.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, 231 W. Kirke Gate, Lee, IL 60530 where she will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. Rev. Bonaventure Okoro will officiate. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Midwest K-9 Emergency Response Team, 1167 Paw Paw Road, Lee, IL 60530.

Carmen and I are very sorry for your loss. We will always have the fondest of memories of Laurine. She was one of the sweetest people we have known. She had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around. We are so glad that she was able to visit us here in Michigan in the last few years. Laurine and her family are in our thoughts.
To all my cousins, I send my thoughts and prayers and love, as I was so thankful that I could get to Chicago to see Aunt Laurine in her final days, and know that I brought a smile to her face when she saw me.
It is hard being back home in Vancouver, knowing that I am so far away at this time and can not be there with all of you, but I am there in Spirit.
