Our precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Loleta Mae (Goy) Mathesius, 93, was called to heaven on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from Heritage Square Nursing Facility in Dixon, where their dedicated and loving staff nurtured and loved her since she moved there in 2010.
Loleta was born at home in Maytown on April Fool’s Day 1924 to George and Margaret (Kelly) Goy. She married Douglas Mathesius on November 28, 1946 and celebrated over 39 years of marriage. She worked at Conkeys Mendota, Migrant Camps Rochelle, and Jerry’s Tap in Compton, where she served breakfast to all the local farmers. She was also a dedicated housewife and mother. She lived in Compton over 50 years and attended St. Mary Church in West Brooklyn. She loved spending time with all her family, cooking, baking, and coffee hour with neighbors. The Mathesius home was always open to anyone, any time, and they were considered by many one of the most giving couples ever.
Loleta is survived by her daughter, Karen (Tom) Dinges of Sublette; their four children, Danny (Shauna) Dinges, Doug Dinges, Dean (Amanda) Dinges, and Ashley (Jon) Ebert; her special great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Mychala, and Olivia Dinges, Carson Dinges, and Camryn and Eden Ebert; her son, Gary (Aldonna) Mathesius; step-children, Somchit Phong, Wanne Hernandez, Sunee Menzel, Tugtig Mathesius, and Tudtu Collins; her sister, June Stephenitch; a sister-in-law, Barb Goy; and many nieces and nephews.
Loleta was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Mathesius; sons Lynn and Paul Mathesius; parents, Margaret and George Goy; brothers, Gilbert, Leroy, and Donald Goy; husband, Wilbur Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2520 Johnson Street, in West Brooklyn with Father Randy Fronek officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in West Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Heritage Square, 620 N. Ottawa Avenue, Dixon, IL 61021.

Aunt Lolita was a delightful, thoughtful, funny sweetheart who was kind to everyone she met. Inside that lovely demeanor was a strong and resilient rock. Much love to all of my cousins–please know I am thinking of you.
