Rachel Myea Lampson, 30, of Paw Paw, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Friday, March 25, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 22, 1992, in Rockford, IL.
Rachel was raised in Paw Paw by her grandparents, Joyce and Don King. She was baptized and became a member of the Paw Paw Bible Church. She was an active member of the church, going on a mission trip to Ecuador in 2010 and volunteering each summer for Vacation Bible School. She loved animals, especially Milo, her pet ferret. Rachel graduated from Paw Paw High School in 2010 where she was an honor student all four years. She attended and graduated Monmouth College in 2014. She was a Dean’s List student and graduated with a degree in Journalism with a minor in Women’s Studies. Rachel loved to read and could get lost in a book. She was ambitious and eager to learn. She had a thirst for knowledge and a sharp wit. She was quiet but her personality and ironic humor would shine when she was with close family and close friends.
Rachel is survived by her grandmother, Joyce King; mother, Johnnie Kirby; siblings, Sarah Kirby and Gabriel Ujcic; nephews, Zachary Goodwin, Jaxson Goodwin, and Theo Ujcic; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rachel is preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald King.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Paw Paw Bible Church, 410 N. 7th Street in Paw Paw with Pastor Jed Cary and Pastor Gabe Hilleson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw. Contributions in Rachel’s memory may be directed to Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115. Please visit www.TormanFuneralHome.com to sign the online guest book.
